I wanted to supply additional feedback on the new badges. I took @Wasay-Gumloop 's great advice and renamed the nodes themselves so that I could figure out which badges are which. It’s a decent work around for now, but still nowhere near as user-friendly as the old spaghetti nodes. Here’s a flow I am working on and I thought this visual might convey the issue. First, I have to make the node super big on my canvas for the badges to be big enough to follow, but even then once I drag them onto the Node itself, there’s no visual certainty that I put the right one in the right place. I know you are aware of this but hoping you can escalate addressing? Just one person’s opinion but I find this annoying enough to want the old nodes back
Is it possible to give users the choice for the new or old UI? I personaly did not have a big problem with the old UI
working in an improvement for this in our next update. Thanks for flagging
unfortunately not, we’ll continue iterating on this UI until you think it’s objectively much better though
hey @JenK @Donna, i’m thinking that when you hover over the badge, it very clearly highlights the edge related to that badge and the node came from. I don’t think this is a complete solution but it should hopefully partially help. I’ll also make the side node menu remain large even when zoomed out.
I’ll keep ideating and will find an even better fix for this but running this by you first to see if you have any other ideas.
@MaxBrodeurUrbas Hovering will definitely help; the hovering solution, however, is predicated on making sure a user renames the generically-named nodes. I’ve been using Gumloop premium for months and it never occurred to me to rename those things until @Wasay-Gumloop mentioned it as a workaround after the new interface. Maybe it’s just me.
There’s an additional issue though because the character limits of naming the nodes slows the build process down, especially on more complex flows (i.e, you have a series of Flatten Lists of Lists). The naming is now mandatory otherwise you can’t follow which is for which when using them in the next node; it just adds an extra burden. Also, the lengths (pixels?) don’t show consistently. Look at this screenshot. That second one is the Web Scraper output of Comp2 (aka Competitor 2), but you can’t see the 2; yet you can see the 1 in the sibling above. If I added Comp3, my guess is that wouldn’t show. Could I get rid of the whole “Web Scraper” prefix - sure - but I need it to remind me of the origin. I don’t have all the colors memorized (well, except for pink which is always AI). Sometimes I do go back and rename the nodes so I can follow the badges better. I’d rather spend the time building the flow.
I hope this feedback helps. I’m a huge Gumloop fan and my goal is to articulate the frustration constructively vs whining
